Louis, the giant pacific octopus who lives in the Blue Reef Aquarium in Cornwell, England can’t get enough of his Mr. Potato Head. Caretakers have caught him nuzzling the toy with his beak and if they try to even take him away Louis becomes “aggressive.”

In the News… [some really messed up news]

- Despite his entire personal life being splashed across the front pages of newspapers and tabloids and his god-awful new nickname of “cheater Woods,” Tiger Woods was still voted the top athlete of the decade. Really…?

- Bilboard has also declared Nickelback as the band of the decade. What is wrong with the world?

- Today, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry passed away after he suffered severe injuries upon falling out of a pickup truck during a messy dispute with his wife. He was discovered on a residential road and rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. He was 26.

- Our country is beginning to lose that “hope” that we were instilled with when Barack Obama became President this year. The numbers and percentages regarding optimism and reflection over President Obama’s job in the office have been declining rapidly. The numbers are online somewhere I’m sure, I watched the segment on NBC nightly news last night. If you thought our unemployment rate was bad in Seattle… well it’s 50% in Detroit. Yeah, that’s terrible.

- When I was nine years old, I was singing along to Spice Girls. These days I guess it’s okay for a nine-year-old Noah Cyrus, sister of Miley Cyrus, to be singing Akon’s “Smack That.” Does the girl even know what the lyrics mean? Miley’s camp is cheering for her like it’s cute, it’s not cute. It’s just discomforting.

- Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have finally called it quits after three years together.

- The Hills will be returning for a sixth season on MTV. Filming will start up after New Years. NOOOOOOOOOO!

On a happier note…

Kevin Jonas [The Jonas Brothers] and Danielle Deleasa will wed this weekend

Happy 20th Anniversary Simpsons! They premiered on television exactly 20 years ago.

- Project Runway season 7 will return to Lifetime on January 14th.

- American Apparel has just announced that they have launched a nail polish line.

Bringing It Back

Please…just listen to the tips that they suggest:

- Having a stuffed animal

- Wearing a t-shirt with a slogan on it

- Stare at him

- Talk about your pets

- Talk softly so he is forced to lean in

No one does this anymore, do they? After watching this video, I was instantly reminded of the movie The Girl Next Door. The main character hated that old sex-ed video he had to watch in his class that was pretty much as outdated as THIS video so he took it into his own hands to make a video that was more interesting and more appropriate for his age group. If you were to re-make this video, what kind of helpful tips would you include that would work for today’s culture?

Meet the Bundler

In 1975, the Bundler was all the craze. Is it possible that the Snuggie may have spawned from this? Granted, the Snuggie has a much catchier name, but where the Snuggie fails, the Bundler has picked up the pieces. With the Bundler, you can adjust at your legs and waste with that AWESOME rope [!!] to be a little bit more form fitting whereas with the Snuggie …well it certainly isn’t a flattering piece in any way, shape, or form.

And no one wants to look unflattering…

Twilight According to Alex

I tried to read Twilight last year. I really did. Kayla let me borrow her book and everything, but I just couldn’t get into it. I didn’t even enjoy the movie and usually that will work on me.

Today, I discovered Alex Day. He might be onto something here…

Whether you enjoy Twilight or not, I think his commentaries of chapter 3 and 4 are pretty accurate. ENJOY!

And for Chapter 2

10) ____= Life.
Example: Rudy Mezzy is Starbucks=life <3333
I just don’t really understand this one to be honest. Clearly, Starbucks is not “a life”, maybe for the people that work there…but a simple “I less than three Starbucks” would certainly suffice. They get better…

9) Incorrect Grammar
Example: Rudy Mezzy is oh my god Bill Belichick your such an idiot. Why would you go for it when theyre team had Peyton Manning?
Wow, ok first of all before you call someone an idiot, make sure you can correctly identify them as a contraction instead of a possessive. Attend Elementary School before changing your status.

Someone Once Told Me…

I am in awe when I come across these types of projects online. They embody everything that is real in this world. Everything that is true and genuine and there’s just not any bullshitting. I hope someday I can formulate a yearly project much like this one and like others that I have seen.

Someone Once Told Me… is a photography project that is full of life lessons, tales, and advice that we have heard before or haven’t! It is updated daily by Mario Cacciottolo who wanders the streets of London to capture these photographs that make up this amazing website.

The Jersey Shore Horror Continues

Who’s watched the show since the premiere? I, for one, have not. I might just be too consumed in the show Glee to watch anything else on television.

I have no idea what is going down (or who is going down – har har) on MTV’s The Jersey Shore, but I just got a hold of this clip, which will supposedly be appearing on an upcoming episode.

BAM Snooki! (Yep, actual guidette nickname for ya)

Does MTV incorporate this into their plot lines? That punch looks like it is going to be incredibly damaging. A part of me thinks that MTV almost told her to take the punch and they would pay her more…

And no, I do not think that men hitting women is funny. I think I’ve just gotten used to the idea that anything MTV films these days is unrealistic. And it is, ie) the reality dating shows, The Hills, The City, and now Jersey Shore.

When I had braces…

When all of my friends in junior high got braces, I wanted them. I wanted to be that trendy girl with the metal across her teeth for accessories like EVERYONE else.

When I actually had to get braces at age 17, junior year of high school, I hated them. I didn’t fully get them off until my senior year – the prime time when everyone just looked good and had straight teeth and I was still the awkward high schooler with braces.

Now that their off, I can finally appreciate what they have done for me. I’m past that awkward mouth phase and the rubber bands snapping mid-speak.

When I Had Braces… is a new time waster site featuring the vintagey photos of our metal-in-the-mouth wearing days.

When I had braces I was blissfully unaware of my appearance.

When I had braces… I thought I was unique for taking my pictures in the rear view mirror for my MySpace default.

Sketchy Santas

An important part of your childhood while growing up was getting your picture taken with Santa every year. I did it. My brother did it. You stand in that line for over an hour and your picture happens within an instant that you don’t really understand what the purpose of getting your picture taken with an artificial Santa actually means. You don’t even get a good look at his face, but don’t be fooled. The sketchyness will most definitely appear in the picture.

Visit the new time waster site Sketchy Santas. Kind of makes you look at mall Santas in a different light doesn’t it?

Well… this is awkward

The University of Michigan posted a sign recently asking you to handle your business in your own room. Forget going to the bathroom to clean up after yourself, you can go to the bathroom AFTER you’ve finished, but if you choose to do the deed, you will run the risk of costing the college “thousands every year.” Semen-related activities cost money. Don’t forget it also costs more money if you have babies!

It’s this serious guys.

The Slipper Boot

During the past week of finals, I’ve been spending copious amounts of time in my lobby. I typically mind my own business…cause I’ve got work to do, but I’ve been noticing recently a group of freshmen girls rushing down to the lobby “studying” clad in THOSE boots (above) little itty bitty shorts and a zip-up hoodie.

My question: Why? Why get dressed up (or dressed down) to study in the lobby?

Why prance around in your little shorts and boots? Clearly, this is not for warmth. So what is the real reason that you’re wearing them…

There’s been a lot of talk on one of my recent posts about the new MTV show “Jersey Shore.” Do we find it a little strange that they all have weird nicknames? Seriously, not one of them uses their real name.

If you’re feeling a little left out, DON’T! You can be a guido or guidette too with the Jersey Shore nickname generator here

Mine is:
